I wanted to post this yesterday but the day got ahead of me. So apologies.
I’ve been working hard to do a final edit and read-through of Risen from Ashes. Unfortunately, a couple of things have happened that have forced me to take a step back. The first was getting sick and being laid low for close to a week. It wasn’t the flu. Heck, I would have preferred that. But that put me behind as you can imagine.
The second is an issue with the editorial process. I won’t go into too many details except to say the copy editor did not follow instructions and the process of going over their suggested edits has been much slower than normal.
Because of that, I’ve done something I’ve never done before for a book put up for pre-order. I’ve delayed the release. Those of you who pre-ordered the book should have already received a notice from Amazon. If you haven’t you will shortly. The book isn’t canceled. I’ve simply pushed the release date back four weeks. I’d rather do that and be confident with the quality of the edits than to rush it.
By delaying the release, it gives me time to go through the suggested edits and let my alpha readers take a second look. I hope you guys understand. To make it up to you, I’ll probably put up a short story in the universe–something new–sometime in the next week or two. I’ll leave it up on the blog for a couple of weeks and then take it down, do any necessary rewrites and publish it. But those of you who follow the blog will get to see it first.
For now, I’m off to find more coffee. Until later.
