New week, new update and more

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent most of it being a slug. Well, that’s not exactly right and I’ll explain more on that later. But I did enjoy a lot of sun and warmish weather even if the pollen sent my allergies into high gear. Now it’s time to put butt back in chair and finish up Surtr’s Fury before moving on to the next project.

Over the weekend, I realized it’s been a year since TuggerCat joined the household. I adopted him from a rescue group when he was only a few months old, certainly less than six month. Even though they didn’t tell me, it was clear from the start he was from a feral litter. Between his behavior and his nocked ear, he had all the signs. He also instantly imprinted on me. There’s no other word for it. He is MY cat. He follows me like a dog. He wants to be on my desk as I’m working and he sleeps with me. More telling, he will not sit in Mom’s lap–and he was supposed to be her cat. He’s still skittish and will hide whenever company comes over. Despite all that, he gets on extremely well with our older cat, even if he is like the bratty little brother, and the dog.

Here are some pictures.

Those were from his first day or two with us. Here are some later ones:

In the last photo, he is next to our older cat. They are the same height and length even though BratCat is heavier. BC’s got a more muscular build where Tugger is sleeker and overall has a smaller skeletal build, if that makes sense. Heaven help us if he ever really fills out.

What else this weekend?

Thanks to a friend and an image she posted online, I got infected with a new story. Not just a single story. Oh no, that would be too simple. I got infected with what will wind up being at least three books. And when I say infected, that’s putting it too mildly. I wound up having to sit down last night and this morning and make notes on the first book just to get it to settle down enough that I can go back to finishing up the edits on Surtr’s Fury. I’m not going to say much else about the project yet. but I will post some images I created to use for my idea board for the series going forward. Here you go:

I am really excited about this series of stories and can’t wait to get to them. Now it’s time to put butt back in the chair–after making sure TuggerCat isn’t in it because that’s his favorite place in the mornings–and get to work. Until later.

And don’t forget to check out the snippet that goes live this morning over on my substack page.
