More cover doodling

This is what happens when I’m mentally and physically tired. Even though the brain is busy with story ideas, it isn’t communitcating them to the keyboard. But I still feel the need to do something to keep pushing forward with the publication schedule. Right now, that does include, as I said yesterday, doing a new cover for Nocturnal Haunts. I posted a mock-up for it yesterday but it still wasn’t right. Fortunately for me, I have some great fellow author friends and one of them pointed out what the problem was–something I hadn’t clicked on yet–with the fonts I was using. So thanks, Melissa!

Here’s something I want to make clear. I love the covers for the main Nocturnal Lives series. Sarah did an awesome job working with what I wanted. Haunts was done when we were both still fairly new to the whole publishing thing and even though we both knew it needed to be redone, we never got around to it. I’m doing it now because it does tie so closely in with  Cat’s Paw. Part of that means updating the fonts because the cuing has changed some over the years.

And I hate trying to find fonts that will work and that are legal and don’t cost an arm and a leg.

Anyway, here’s the new mock-up. The base imaging is the same but the fonts have changed–I hope for the better.
