Life, Writing and Complications

Wow, I owe you guys an apology. I’ve been head down, butt in chair for three weeks solid writing. When I haven’t been doing that, I’ve been taking Mom to PT or working with her here at the house. Then there’s been the usual household chores, my own outside appointments and, well, life. The result is something had to give and, unfortunately, it was this blog. I’ll try to be better but here’s fair warning. I don’t see things getting any better over the next couple of weeks at the very least. There are only so many hours in the day and, right now, those aren’t enough to get everything done. But, after three weeks, Tearing the Veil (working title) is basically finished. At least the first full draft. I’m still trying to find the right cover elements to match the tone and feel of the book. And I’m still cursing Myrtle the Evil Muse for giving me a book that had to be written NOW! when I had something else already on my plate. There really is a reason I call her my evil muse.

But, damn, I like this book and the characters. The MC is a little darker and a lot more damaged than others I’ve written. Hell, who am I kidding? The book is darker than most of what I’ve written. But it fits the story and the overall story arc. This will be a limited series. Three books is how it looks. What I didn’t expect was the potential overlap it might have with another project I’ve been working on.

Yes, my muse is evil that way.

And. . . I’m back. Yes, I went there. I went wandering through images looking for cover elements because the coffee hasn’t kicked in and . . . ooooh, shiny.

So that’s my cue to find more coffee, get some food and see how much I can get done before I have to take Mom to PT this morning.

BTW, be looking for more on Tearing the Veil later this week. . . unless Myrtle jumps me with some other new project.

Until later.
