I’m still among the living

Man, the last six months or so have been more than a challenge. I’m not going to bore you with the details. Some have already been discussed here. What I will say is that family is something to cherish and while it isn’t always possible to put it first, when you can do. That’s what I’ve been having to do, sometimes to the detriment of my own health. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel and some changes in the wind.

I’ll start by saying I’m not getting into the politics of today. There’s going to be more than enough written over the next 24 hours or so about the circus that is about to happen in NYC. I’ll probably have some thoughts on it later, after the charges have been revealed. But I’ll wait.

I do want to say the women’s Final Four this weekend was AWESOME! I’m so thrilled Dallas was able to host it and I had fun watching the finals with friends.

On the writing front, there has been work done. Not as much as I want, but that’s also given me time to look at some of my previous work, decide what needs to have new covers done, catch up on kicking some butt about getting print versions out, etc. So expect movement on those fronts in the upcoming two or three months. It’s not going to happen as fast as I want because I have learned my lesson about spreading myself too thin.

As for actual writing projects, the following have been roughed out and are sitting on the back burner for a bit to let my mind wander away from them. That lets me have a fresh set of eyes when I go back. Anyway, here they are:

  • Vengeance of the Gods (Book 4, Sword of the Gods)
  • Designation Frejya (Book 1, Augment Wars–in final revisions)
  • Tearing the Veil Book 2 (Title to be determined)
  • Rogue Walker (working title, new series)
  • Jaguar Freed (Nocturnal Lives/Nocturnal Awakenings series)

Additional projects that have entered the preliminary draft phase (or are close enough to it to have my attention)

  • Augment Wars, books 2 & 3
  • Eerie Side of the Tracks Book 7 (I think I have the number right. Title to be determined)
  • Two more books to follow Jaguar Freed (Nocturnal Lives/Nocturnal Awakenings)
  • New book in the Honor & Duty universe, a sequel of sorts

The order the titles above are listed is not necessarily the order in when they will be published or worked on, depending on their current state. It’s just the order they currently are sitting on my desktop.

What else?

I’m going to have to do more dedicated promotion of my work. Since I suck at getting newsletters out, I’m going to try something different. I’ve had a couple of Substack account sitting unused for two years or so. I’m going to dust off one of them and use it in conjunction with the blog here. And, yes, I am going to be able to get back to regular blogging here. Life may never get back to normal, but it is getting back to being somewhat manageable. That is the best any of us can ask for right now.

As for the Substack account, I’m still figuring out the details. I am thinking that I will do a once a month post there that will be open to everyone who subscribes, no money required. However, on the f1st and 15th of each month, I will put up a short story or chapter from the current work-in-progress, sort of like an e-arc version, for subscribers. Yes, it is a bit mercenary, but I am a capitalist at heart.

I’ll announce the formal start of the Substack posts later this week, but I’m aiming for next week with the first paid subscriber content on May 1st. (I just can’t see myself posting  paid content on April 15th. Shudder.) Anyway, here’s the link for the Substack page and I will be adding it to my other social media accounts as I figure out how.

In case the link above doesn’t work, here it is: amandasgreen-dot-substack-dot-com

Also, if you have a substack of your own or one you’d recommend, leave it in the comments. Thanks.

Now, I need more coffee and I need to get to work. But, before I do, I’ve been playing some more with Midjourney. Here are a couple of images I’ve been using as inspiration pieces for some of the titles listed above. Can you guess which ones go with which titles?

  1. For the fourth image, something about that house seems Eerie, so Eerie Side of the Track. 😉
