After a number of fits and starts and a couple of delays, Dagger of Elanna (Sword of the Gods Book 2) is almost here. I am looking at the print outs this morning, making one last check for problems before uploading the final publication file. As you can see by the link, it is available for pre-order and the release date, set in stone, is the 15th.
This has been a fun book to write, even if there have been times when it’s made me tear at my hair. Of course, every book is like that at some point. But Cait and company have become some of my favorites (just don’t tell the others. They get jealous). I already have a basic outline for the third book and will probably get to writing the draft of it toward the end of the year.
Dagger is longer than the first book in the series. That is one reason why it took longer to write. When I made my plot notes — I don’t do a traditional outline but I also don’t tend to pants a book — I thought it would come in around the same length as Sword of Arelion (Sword of the Gods Book 1). Foolish me. This book comes in somewhere in the neighborhood of 150k words. There is a lot that happens and, of course, it all is leading to the events of book 3, tentatively titled Arrow of Aimsir.
And, yes, there will be a print version of the book. Once I approve the digital version, I’ll check the print formatting and get it set up. Hopefully, it will be available by Apirl 1st.
In the meantime, I see sleep in my future — after this book is live. Then it will be on to Nocturnal Rebellion, Victory from Ashes, and all the rest that’s on the schedule.
Oh yeah, go pre-order Dagger. Please!
